Australian Open doubles finalists Luke Saville and Max Purcell will reunite for the first time since their heroic run last month. The Aussie duo will be in action in Acapulco this week, just days after Saville claimed the Moralos Challenger title with fellow Aussie John-Patrick Smith.
Saville and Purcell are the fourth seeds in the doubles draw and will face the pairing of Santiago Gonzalez and Ken Skupski, who they defeated in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Nick Kyrgios will return to the court for the first time since his Australian Open defeat to Rafael Nadal, opening his campaign against in form Frenchman Ugo Humbert. If Kyrgios is able to advance, he could face fellow Aussie John Millman, who takes on Taylor Fritz.
Alex de Minaur will compete for the first time since his ATP Cup defeat to Rafael Nadal, with another meeting between the pair looming. De Minaur will take on Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic with the possibility of facing no.1 seed Nadal in the second round if both players advance.
In a blockbuster encounter, Jordan Thompson will take on second seed Alexander Zverev. Thompson will also be in action in the doubles, teaming up with Nick Kyrgios.
In qualifying action, Max Purcell was forced to retire with injury against Taro Daniel in the opening round, trailing 3-6, 3-4. Alex Bolt was also unsuccessful in qualifying, falling to Damir Dzumhur 7-6(5), 3-6, 4-6 in the final round in a tight encounter. On the women's side, Astra Sharma and Lizette Cabrera were both defeated in the opening round of qualifying as well.
At the Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai, Alexei Popyrin was defeated by Italian teenager Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-7(1) in the first round of qualifying.
In the doubles draw, Matt Ebden continues his partnership with Leander Paes, with the pair to face second seeds Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek in the first round. John Peers is also in action with partner Michael Venus. The duo will face French pair Benoit Paire and Pierre-Hugues Herbert first up.
Ash Barty is the number one seed at the Qatar Open in Doha and will open her campaign against Laura Siegemund after having a bye in the first round.
Ajla Tomljanovic is also through to the second round, advancing with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over fellow Aussie Priscilla Hon, who qualified for the main draw.
At Challenger level, Christopher O'Connell is the number one seed at the Columbus Challenger. Marc Polmans is the second seed, Andrew Harris, Jason Kubler and Aleks Vukic are also seeded, with all five Aussies straight through to the second round with a bye. John-Patrick Smith is in action, taking on Sekou Bangoura with the winner to face no.1 seed O'Connell.
Another four Aussies are in action at the Calgary Challenger in Canada. 12th seed Akira Santillan is through to the second round with a bye. Looking to join him are Blake Mott, Harry Bourchier and Jacob Grills. Mott opens against Canadian wildcard Alexis Galarneau, Grills takes on Patrik Niklas-Salminen and Bourchier faces a qualifier.
At the ITF W25 event in Perth, at least eleven Aussies will be in action. Arina Rodionova, Jaimee Fourlis, Destanee Aiava and Abbie Myers are all seeded, whilst Mia Repac, Alicia Smith, Olivia Symons, Ivana Popovic, Alexandra Bozovic, Gabriella Da silva fick and Talia Gibson are all in action as well.
