Ash Barty has advanced to the semifinals of the Qatar Open in Doha, claiming a 6-1, 6-7(4), 6-2 victory over Garbine Muguruza in a tight clash.

The world number one will face 8th seed Petra Kvitova in a bid to book her spot in the final. It will be the pairs ninth meeting, with their head to head tied at four each. However, Barty will come into the match with confidence, having won their previous four meetings, including their most recent at last months Australian Open.

In Acapulco, Ellen Perez and Storm Sanders continued their fantastic form, advancing to the semifinals with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 victory over Nao Hibino and Heather Watson. The Aussie duo will face Kateryna Bondarenko and Sharon Fichman for a spot in the final.

Unfortunately for Matt Ebden, his doubles run with Leander Paes came to an end, falling to Henri Kontinen and Jan-Lennard Struff 3-6, 3-6 in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

At the Columbus Challenger, number one seed Christopher O'Connell was ousted by rising Austrian Jurij Rodionov 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 2-6.

Marc Polmans kept his hopes alive, booking his spot in the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over 15th seed Ji Sung Nam. The win for Polmans means he is the highest seed remaining in the tournament. He sets up a clash with eighth seed Mikael Torpegaard.

Fellow Aussie Aleksandar Vukic also advanced to the quarterfinals in Columbus with an outstanding performance. The 16th seed defeated fourth seed Emilio Gomez 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-6(6) in an incredibly tight encounter, in which Vukic came from a break down in the deciding set.

Next up is fifth seed Denis Istomin with a spot in the semifinals up for grabs.
