Harry Bourchier joined tennis reporter Jedd Zetzer and former pro player Jake Eames in this weeks episode of The First Serve's 'Aussies Only' podcast.
Bourchier, who grew up in Tasmania spoke of his childhood and explained how he got into the tennis scene:
"I grew up in Tassie. My family's pretty in to tennis, my brother and sister played, so I always had them guiding me as I went along. They went on to play college tennis in America, they were always pretty good. I knew I always wanted to be better than them and take it one step further and go professional.
The current world no.308 reminisced on his junior career, talking about coming up against players who have gone on to make the top 10.
"I played a lot of matches in my junior career. I suppose when you play that many matches you're going to build some sort of ranking. At that age, it's just more about finding your feet and learning your own game. Those better guys, they weren't any different or any better but they were able to springboard at a certain age. At the time, obviously they're no superstars, so you don't know if they're going to go on and progress, everyone's pretty similar level," Bourchier said.
Bourchier touched on his time being coaching by Wayne Arthurs in a group setting:
"It was a little group of us. It was me, Omar Jasika, Marc Polmans and Jacob Grills that were assigned under Wayne Arthurs," Bourchier explained.
