Having a breakout seasons is hard enough as it is let alone in 2020. However, the rise of Jannik Sinner and Ons Jabeur have been a delight to watch. Their impressive runs, despite a big break in the middle of 2020 has shown great poise.

Jabeur has had a terrific 2020 season climbing up the ranks consistently. Since last year she has moved up 46 spots to world number 31. The 26-year-old’s craftiness on court always keeps her opponents guessing.

This winning formula, complimented with her powerful hitting has won huge praise from her coach Issam Jalleli

Jalleli told Brett Phillips on a recent episode of The First Serve on SEN he is loving seeing the growth of the Tunisian.

“It is not difficult to coach her, it’s different” Jalleli said.

Jalleli complemented her ability to mix up her shot making however pointed out this is also this is an area that can be improved as well.

“It’s more about the decisions on the court, knowing when she can use the shots.

“It’s more about decisions, when and how.” Jalleli said.

Next Gen sensation Jannik Sinner has done the same on the men’s tour. The 19-year-old has built on his strong finish to the 2019 season. This time last year Sinner was ranked outside the top 100.

Since then the Italian defeated Alex De Minaur in the Next Gen Final late last year and has shown great promise against some quality opponents in 2020. His 3 top ten wins have come in big pressure tournaments.

One of those included his 4th round match at the French Open. Sinner showed he will be a consistent top 10 ranked player in the years to come defeating Zverev. He would eventually lose to Nadal in the quarter final. However, at 19 has so much room to grow.

The Italian has a great combination of rallying against opponents and he has the smarts to know when to kill the point with a great approach to the net. As the 2020 season recommenced   after the break, Sinner has also built his stamina to compete in the final sets of matches and adapting to get results.

He is a name we will be watching for years to come.
