As players from all around the globe touch down in Australia for the 2021 Australian Open, passengers on flight QR7493 will be confined to their hotel rooms, without being allowed to train for five hours a day after two people on the flight tested positive for COVID.

Edward Elliot - the coach of WTA world no. 75 Lauren Davis, as well as an aircrew member were the two people on the flight who tested positive, but it is reported Elliot's test could be a false positive.

Among 79 people on the flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne were 24 players, including two time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka as well as fellow WTA players Sloane Stephens and Lauren Davis.
