Former world no.69 Thanasi Kokkinakis has received a wildcard into the main draw of the 2021 Australian Open.

Kokkinakis is amongst five new wildcard recipients on the men's side, including former world no.1 Andy Murray. South Australian Alex Bolt is amongst the recipients, as is New South Welshman Aleksandar Vukic, who will compete in his maiden Australian Open main draw. India's Sumit Nagal will also make his Australian Open debut, receiving the Asia-Pacific wildcard.

Along with Marc Polmans and Christopher O'Connell (who have already received wildcards), there is one remaining wildcard to be handed out on the men's side, which is expected to go to Australian Alexei Popyrin. However, with a handful of withdrawals, Popyrin could see himself slide into the main draw without requiring a wildcard.

The first withdrawal has already come, with Swiss Maestro Roger Federer announcing he has not yet fully recovered from his knee injury and will miss the first slam of 2021.

Australian's Tristan Schoolkate, Jason Kubler, Akira Santillan, Rinky Hijikata, Dane Sweeny, Max Purcell and Blake Mott will all be on the plane to Doha, receiving wildcards into the qualifying draw, along with Frenchman Harold Mayot.

On the women's side, Australian's Destine Aiava and Arina Rodionova have received wildcards for the main draw, as well as Wang Xiyu, who received the Asia-Pacific wildcard.

There is one main draw wildcard still to be handed out, with the spot expected to go to Australian Sam Stosur, who like Alexei Popyrin awaits a handful of withdrawals to see herself land a main draw entry without requiring a wildcard.

Qualifying wildcards on the women's side have been awarded to Australian's Abbie Myers, Seone Mendez, Storm Sanders, Ivana Popovic, Olivia Gadecki, Charlotte Kempenars-Pocz, Alexandra Bozovic and Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.
