World No. 3 Naomi Osaka made short work of World No. 71 Hsieh Su-wei on Rod Laver Arena this afternoonOsaka attacked Hsieh’s serve and dictated the play from the opening game. The World No. 3 controlled the match tempo from the baseline, smashing home 24 winners from all over the court to claim a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Osaka won an impressive 89% of points on her first serve, while also closing in on 4/12 break points.

The match made history as it was the first time two women from different Asian countries came up against each other in a grand slam quarterfinal.

"Every time I play [Hsieh], it is always such a battle. Even though the score was like this, it was really another battle for me…she's a very tricky opponent for many," Osaka said.

The past three times, and only three times Osaka has reached a Grand Slam semi-final, she has gone the distance and claimed the title.

The 23-year-old will now play the winner of Simona Halep and Serena Williams, which will take place on Rod Laver Arena at 7:00PM AEDT.

"I always watch Serena's matches. Normally I never look at my draw, but everyone's told me about my draw here so I've kind of had no choice but to know who my next opponent is,Osaka said on court at the conclusion of her match."
