Lucky loser Marc Polmans is the last Aussie standing in the men's singles draw at Roland Garros.

The 23 year old Australian received a lucky loser entry into the main draw and advanced to the second round of Roland Garros on day three, claiming an outstanding 6-2, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Frenchman Ugo Humbert.

Polmans won a whopping 81% (26/32) of net points in a brilliant attacking display.

It's a first main draw victory at Roland Garros for Polmans, and just his second grand slam main draw win.

The Victorian will face 20th seed Cristian Garin in the second round of the tournament.

Fellow Australian Alexei Popyrin was also in action on day three but was defeated by South African Lloyd Harris 4-6, 4-6, 6-7(7), leaving Polmans as the last Aussie still alive in the men's main draw.

Popyrin was unable to generate a break point his two hour defeat.

Australian Open finalists Max Purcell and Luke Saville suffered a first round defeat to 6th seeds and four time grand slam winners Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut 1-6, 2-6.

Fellow Australian duo John Millman and James Duckworth also exited the doubles draw in the first round, going down to 14th seeds Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin 7-6(5), 4-6, 0-6.

Astra Sharma and Daria Gavrilova are still in action in the women's draw and will feature on day four.

Sharma will take on 27th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first match of the day on Court 13 with Gavrilova taking on Canadian wildcard Eugenie Bouchard in the match to follow.
