Storm Sanders' run at the Prague Open came to a close in the quarters overnight after being defeated by Belgian Greet Minnen.
The Aussie had been enjoying a good week at the tournament but was outplayed by Minnen in just over an hour's gametime, with the final score reading 2-6, 1-6. The Aussie was broken six times despite a healthy first serve percentage of 90 for the match.
Sanders still has her doubles semifinal match to look forward to with partner Asia Muhammad against locals Lucie Hradecka and Marie Bouzkova.
Astra Sharma has been knocked out of the Ladies Open in Lausanne after resuming her match with Caroline Garcia post rain-delay.
The game resumed with Sharma trailing 6-7(3), 4-3 midway through the second set. The Aussie went on to claim the second 6-3 without losing another game before coming up short in the last 3-6. Her first serve percentage of 70 wasn’t enough as she still faced 12 breakpoints for the match, managing to save half of them. Sharma’s ensuing doubles match was listed as a walkover.
