Sydneysider Aleksandar Vukic has qualified for his maiden grand slam main draw at the 2020 French Open.

Vukic navigated his way into the main draw, claiming a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over the 15th seed in qualifying, Jason Jung. The win for Vukic came after he saved two match points in the first round to defeat Carlos Alcarez, as well as a straight sets victory over 29th seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran.

It will be the Australian's first appearance in a grand slam main draw, but it would not come as a surprise to the University of Illinois graduate. Vukic has been in red hot form in 2020, making the final round of qualifying at the Australian Open and collecting wins over two top 100 ranked players - Feliciano Lopez en route to a maiden challenger final earlier this year in Monterrey, as well as Jiri Vesely at this months challenger event in Prostejov.

The Roland Garros main draws were held overnight in Paris. Vukic's name has not yet been drawn with qualifying matches still in play, as he awaits his first round opponent.

In the women's main draw, all three Australians competing were drawn in the top half.

In her comeback grand slam, Daria Gavrilova will face 24th seed Dayana Yastremska. Ajla Tomljanovic comes up against 20th seed Maria Sakkari and in her Roland Garros main draw debut, Maddison Inglis will face 27th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Hoping to join the trio is Astra Sharma, who takes on Italian Martina Trevisan in the final round of qualifying tonight.

Over on the men's side, 25th seed Alex De Minaur has been drawn a qualifier in the first round. John Millman will face 17th seed Pablo Carreno Busta, in what will be their fourth meeting, with the Spaniard winning two of the previous three.

Alexei Popyrin will take on South African Lloyd Harris. It will be the pairs second meeting, Harris beating Popyrin in their only match to date in Miami Masters qualifying last year.

James Duckworth will face Tommy Paul for the first time, whilst Jordan Thompson takes on Radu Albot in the pairs first clash.

Unfortunately Marc Polmans was unsuccessful in his final round of qualifying match, going down to Great Britain's Liam Broady 6-7(5), 4-6 as Andy Murray watched on from the stands. However, the Aussie still has hope of entering the main draw via a lucky loser entry.

The Roland Garros main draw gets underway in Paris this Sunday, the 27th of September.
