Alex de Minaur lives on here in Washington, courtesy of a tough three set win over Czech world number twenty five Jiri Lehecka as the temperatures soared on Thursday in the nations’ capital.

The 26 year old Aussie prevailing 7-6(4), 6-7(6), 6-4 to record his nineteenth hard court win this season, the most of any player and now ties with Carlos Alcaraz for most ATP 500 wins since the start of 2023 (39).

He will back up on Friday to play his quarter final against american fourteenth seed Brandon Nakashima who won their only meeting on tour on an indoor hardcourt in Antwerp 6-4, 6-0 back in 2021.
