Former world No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas exacted revenge on Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis to secure a vital win for Team Europe at the Laver Cup in Berlin, Germany.
Three weeks ago, Kokkinakis secured a major scalp against the Greek talent in the first-round of the US Open, but history failed to repeat itself.
An impressive start from Tsitsipas secured two breaks of serve in the opening set, serving at 85 per cent accuracy throughout the duration of the contest to win 6-1, 6-4.
"[I'm] very satisfied with that type of game I brought today," Tsitsipas said in the on-court interview after giving team captain Bjorn Borg a warm embrace.
Earlier, Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo upset three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud in straight sets, guiding Team World to an ideal start.
Playing in arguably career-best form, world No.10 Grigor Dimitrov produced one of the rallies of the year which helped the Bulgarian topple a resilient Alejandro Tabilo 7-6(4), 7-6(2).
A much-needed victory was registered from the fiery American pairing of Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, defeating the 2024 French Open final participants in Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev 7-6(5), 6-4.
With the score locked at 2-2, tonight, the event will again feature three singles ties and one doubles match:
Daniil Medvedev (Team Europe) v Frances Tiafoe (Team World) - 9pm AEST
Carlos Alcaraz (Team Europe) v Ben Shelton (Team World) - 10:20pm AEST
Alexander Zverev (Team Europe) v Taylor Fritz (Team World) - 3am AEST
