'My fight is not over': Tara Moore sues ITIA and WTA over four-year doping ban

British tennis player Tara Moore shared in a statement last month that it's "too late" to undo the damage that has been caused by a four-year doping ban, but that doesn't mean she isn't continuing to "fight for justice".


Moore, a former singles No.145 and doubles No.77, breached Articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the 2022 Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP) after her system contained Nandrolone metabolites and Boldenone and its metabolite after consuming contaminated meat, which are prohibited on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list.

The case was open for the next 19 months without resolution, which prevented her from taking the court, but her doping charges were dropped in December 2023, deemed to have borne "no fault or negligence" by an independent tribunal.

After countless legal fees and being unable to earn prize money on the WTA Tour in the midst of a final decision pending, she confirmed on Wednesday AEST that legal action is being taken, referring to "flaws" within the main tennis governing bodies.


"My fight for justice isn't over. The WTA and ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) failed to warn me about the known risk of meat contamination in Bogotá that wrecked my career. I've filed arbitration against both of them for the pain they have caused me. I can't comment further because it is a confidential arbitration," she posted on X.
