Fair to say, Casper Ruud was praying for the pain to end as quickly as possible against a rampant Jannik Sinner at the Rome Masters.
Sinner displayed a near-flawless display from start to finish, conceding eight points on serve to hand Ruud an eye-opening 6-0, 6-1 drubbing in the quarter-finals.

The pair had practised together on-site before the tournament, but despite Ruud winning the Madrid Masters nearly two weeks ago, the 65-minute encounter was as one-sided as it gets.
A three-time Slam finalist and a clay specialist, the Norwegian was in good spirits as he shook hands with Sinner at the net, in what was a sign of helplessness.
"I think it was more fun than anything... you just look at the guy and say this is next level sh*t," Ruud said about Sinner post-match.
"Every area of my good shots he matched with even better back. I couldn't re-answer with a better shot. That was just the story of the match."
Ruud will remain world No.7 if Lorenzo Musetti fails to defeat Carlos Alcaraz in the first semi-final, but for Sinner, he will aim to extend his win streak to 26 against Tommy Paul for a spot in the decider.
In his pre-tournament press conference, the 23-year-old Italian shared that "it's a very low expectation tournament in general" after sitting out of the sport for three months due to testing positive twice for a banned substance last year.
