Jordan Thompson suffered through the pain in his run to the fourth round of Wimbledon recently with a crook back, which saw him return home to Sydney for treatment, Rinky Hijikata had to pull out of Washington last week with an abdominal tear also returning to Australia for rehab and Chris O'Connell is the latest Aussie to fall to injury.
Scheduled to play fellow Aussie Alex de Minaur today here in Toronto, coming off a great win against Stefanos Tsitsipas on Wednesday, we learnt about 24 hours ago that Chris had withdrawn from todays match with an abdominal injury.

Chris has since confirmed to The First Serve that he has a tear in his oblique, suffering the injury in the warm up prior to the Tsitsipas match. The full diagnosis is not known at this stage with no further elaboration from the 31 year old.
The withdrawal allowed de Minaur a walkover to the fourth round where he will face American Frances Tiafoe who overcame another Aussie in Aleksandar Vukic in three sets on centre court 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
Jordan Thompson is scheduled to return in Cincinnati next week, remaining on the entry list for singles and with Matt Ebden to play doubles. Rinky Hijikata is hoping to be back for Winston Salem the week before the US Open and we wait to hear the verdict on O'Connell.
