Australia has survived the 'group of death' and advanced to the Davis Cup Finals with one game to spare.
Lleyton Hewitt's men picked up victories in their opening two matches against France (2-1) and Czechia (3-0) as they eagerly awaited the result of Spain and France overnight.
Earlier this morning, wins for Carlos Alcaraz and Roberto Bautista Agut in the two singles ties were enough to seal Spain's qualification into November's Davis Cup knockout rounds in Malaga.
That also meant good news for the Aussies, as they joined the Spaniards with unassailable leads in Group B, as only the top two advance.
Australia and Spain prepare to go head-to-head on Sunday (7pm AEST) live on Channel 9, despite being nothing but a dead rubber.
Having lost to Canada and Italy in the last two Davis Cup Finals, Australia will be looking to go one better and claim their first crown since 2003 when Hewitt helped guide his nation against Spain on Rod Laver Arena.
The knockout rounds are scheduled to be played on November 19-24.
