World No.105 Yulia Putintseva has turned villain again by sarcastically celebrating in the direction of heckling fans on Court 6.
The former top 20 player, who is heading into the twilight of her career aged 31, took care of business in her opening round match at the Australian Open, coming from behind to defeat Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
The First Serve Live returns on Monday February 2nd at 8pm AEDT for its 18th year on the SEN Network/App, Australia's only dedicated weekly tennis program on commercial radio running through till the end of November.
As part of the tournament's continuous revamp, the Courtside Bar (Court 6) is connected to Court 5 and Court 7 by a balcony, opening the possibility of further mayhem when it comes to crowd rowdiness.
The spectators watching on clearly got on Putintseva's nerves, as the Kazakh celebrated passionately before bowing to the crowd.
It's not the first time Putintseva has made headlines for the wrong reasons, with her recent flare-up coming against Maria Sakkari at the Bad Homburg Open last year, telling the Greek star to "go f*** yourself" after Putintseva's poor attempt at a handshake.
At the 2024 US Open, Putintseva ignored a ball girl by standing still and watching the balls go past her, before apologising afterwards.
She faces Elsa Jacquemot in the second round.
