Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas hopes lower back surgery will help revive his career after a disappointing season.
The two-time major finalist has won 22 matches in 2025 and has failed to surpass the second round in any of the four Grand Slams this year.
In the first round of Wimbledon, Tsitsipas retired after the second set against Valentin Royer due to back pain.

According to Greek media outlet Tennis 24, the former world No.3 underwent successful lower back surgery, with a recovery timeline of two to six weeks set for his return.
More specifically, he underwent a colectomy, which is a surgical procedure designed to remove all or part of the colon.
However, it is unclear whether the 27-year-old will be ready in time to participate in Saudi Arabia's mega $6 million Six Kings Slam exhibition in mid-October.

Earlier this week, Tsitsipas replaced Jack Draper in the event.
Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz are the other five players who have confirmed their eligibility.
Tsitsipas has plummeted to 27th in the rankings.
