Serbian star Novak Djokovic has revealed his plans for the 2025 season after withdrawing from next week's Nitto ATP Finals.
On Tuesday, the 24-time major winner announced on his Instagram story that he will skip the prestigious event in Turin to recover his body.
"It’s an honour to qualify for the Finals, but due to an injury, I won’t be able to play next week," the defending ATP Finals champion wrote.
"I apologise to everyone who was planning to watch me compete. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!"
The 37-year-old has appeared in 10 tournaments this year, with his only title coming in Paris at the Olympic Games where he clinched an elusive gold medal.
"Torino [the ATP Finals] is not my goal at all, to be honest. I am not chasing ATP Finals, I am not chasing the rankings," confessed Djokovic earlier this year. "As far as I’m concerned, I am done with those tournaments for my career. Whether I will play others this year or in the future, I can’t say right now.
"My main priorities are playing for the national team and Slams, everything else is less important."
Having slipped to world No.6, Djokovic already has a rough idea as to how he will tackle the new year.
"I am going to play in the first week of the season, I am just not sure yet where. Then, of course, the Australian Open," he told Sport Klub.
"I told you guys that a million times. I would like to play Davis Cup too, [so] let’s see what happens. Tennis is still my focus!
"I am going at full throttle in the off-season, we go for another ride. I just needed to recharge and refresh a bit after an exhausting year."
The first and only time Serbia won the Davis Cup was back in 2010.
