The opening day of Wimbledon action welcomes eight Australians vying for a spot in the second-round at SW19.

For the first time since 1995, 17 Aussies will compete in the All England Club main draw.

Aussie men's matches - Day 1

Jordan Thompson v Vít Kopřiva (Monday, 8pm AEST)

Christopher O'Connell v Adrian Mannarino (Monday, 8pm AEST)

Alexei Popyrin [20] v Arthur Fery (Monday, Not Before 9:10pm AEST)

James Duckworth v Felix Auger-Aliassime [25] (Monday, Not Before 10:20pm AEST)

Jordan Thompson and Christopher O'Connell kick off Day 1 for the men representing Australia, as Aussie fans hope the former has fully recovered after having to withdraw just one set into his opening round encounter at the Queen's Club Championships two weeks ago.

One of two seeded Aussie men, Alexei Popyrin should fancy his chances against British wildcard Arthur Fery on Court 15.

Popyrin, 25, achieved his best result at Wimbledon last year when he fell short against Novak Djokovic in the third-round.

Having failed to surpass the second-round at a major this year, 25th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime is vulnerable to an upset at the hands of veteran James Duckworth, who reached the Wimbledon round of 32 in 2021.

Aussie women's matches - Day 1

Kimberly Birrell v Donna Vekić [22] (Monday, 8pm AEST)

Olivia Gadecki v Greet Minnen (Monday, Not Before 9:40pm AEST)

Ajla Tomljanović v Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Tuesday, Not Before 12am AEST)

Talia Gibson v Naomi Osaka (Tuesday, Not Before 12:30am AEST)

A challenging draw for the Aussie women's contingent on Day 1 commences with world No.77 Kimberly Birrell up against 22nd seed Donna Vekić.

Vekić is bidding for another deep run in London after making the semi-finals 12 months ago, but she will be wary of Birrell's quality, especially given that the Queenslander famously took down the Croatian at the 2019 Australian Open in what was a major upset.

Qualifier and Wimbledon main draw debutant Talia Gibson is ready to relish the occasion against four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka, telling Stan Sport that she is "really happy to have the opportunity" to face someone of Osaka's calibre.

Ajla Tomljanović is bound to rely on her experience which helped accomplish back-to-back Wimbledon quarter-final appearances in 2021 and 2022, when she meets seven-time Slam quarter-finalist Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Meanwhile, the pressure is mounting on Olivia Gadecki to secure her first tour-level main draw victory since the end of January. However, she has a winnable game on paper against Belgium's Greet Minnen.
