A potential third-round appearance is within reach for three Aussies, as Alex de Minaur and Adam Walton, along with Daria Kasatkina, headline Day 5 action at Roland-Garros.
Two days after conquering qualifier Maximilian Marterer in five sets to earn his maiden French Open main draw victory, 26-year-old Walton is oozing confidence at just the right time.
The Queenslander is up against 17th seed Andrey Rublev, but the Russian star has been a shadow of his former self over the past year, tangled in arguments and ugly tantrums, which Walton can potentially exploit.
Rublev, a 10-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist, lost in the Hamburg 500 final last week.
Meanwhile, Walton's counterpart, de Minaur, managed to pull off a third-set comeback from 2-5 down in his first-round clash against Laslo Djere to avoid an extra set of tennis.
The ninth-seed will have to focus on his side of the net against the unpredictable and highly entertaining Alexander Bublik, with a round of 32 spot at stake.
'Demon' is yet to drop a set in three meetings over his upcoming Kazakh challenger, and with Bublik's best result at Roland-Garros coming in round two, an upset seems unlikely.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Kasatkina is one win away from booking a third-round date with former world No.2 Paula Badosa.
But first, the 28-year-old Aussie must overcome the home crowd support for Leolia Jeanjean on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
