A total of eight Australians will vie for a second-round berth on Day 1 of French Open qualifying, commencing Monday night AEST.

Win or lose, every player who competes in the opening round of qualifying will pocket $A36,660, a sum which can transform a player's season.

Fresh off a clay court title at the ITF M25 Baotou, Jason Kubler will be eager to extend his 10-match win streak against world No.197 Alejandro Moro Cañas. The 31-year-old Queenslander is using a protected ranking to enter.

Alex Bolt is tasked with a tricky assignment against another Spaniard in Pablo Llamas Ruiz, as James McCabe will lock into battle with French wildcard recipient, Mathys Erhard.

Having just snuck into qualifying in the final moments, former world No.17 Bernard Tomic will need to serve well if he is to topple 20-year-old talent Coleman Wong.

Alex Bolt v Pablo Llamas Ruiz [Spain] (Not before 7:10pm AEST)

On the women's side, three wins are necessary if Maddison Inglis and Arina Rodionova are to reach the French Open main draw for the second time in their respective careers.

Last year, Taylah Preston was one set away from qualifying for her maiden Roland-Garros main draw against the now popular Alexandra Eala.

The 19-year-old must find a way to defeat 16th seed Varvara Lepchenko to create the possibility of an all-Aussie second-round encounter against Priscilla Hon, who meets Croatia's Jana Fett for the first time.
