Two-time Grand Slam finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas says that the South American Golden Swing has "never offered a good deal" to entice him to compete.

The 27-year-old is considered a clay specialist, having won three Monte Carlo Masters titles and finishing runner-up once at Roland-Garros.

Listen to The First Serve Live every Monday at 8pm AEDT in its 18th year on the SEN Network/App, Australia's only dedicated weekly tennis program on commercial radio running through till the end of November.

However, a candid Tsitsipas spoke truthfully about the main reason why he does not play the ATP Buenos Aires 250 and ATP Rio 500 in February.

"I've never received good offers to go there; when the financial gap is big, you really have no option but to stick with what supports your career," he told CLAY.

"South America has never offered me a deal good enough to seriously consider it. The Middle East has always been much better in terms of appearance fees. The European swing has also provided strong financial incentives. That makes a difference.

"There's that passion in South America that I sometimes set aside, but when the financial gap is large, you really have no choice but to go with what backs your career. I would love to play there. It's always been my dream to visit South America, and I've heard wonderful things about it."

The former world No.3 reached the quarter-finals in Doha earlier this month, before exiting Dubai in the opening round on Wednesday.
