'IT'S LIKE A F**KING HUMP!' THOMPSON FUMES OVER AWKWARD BOUNCE

A four-set defeat against good friend Alex de Minaur was not the only reason Jordan Thompson was left frustrated, blaming the lines after experiencing awkward bounces.

Locked at 1-1 in the fourth set, Thompson shanked a forehand into the stands as he threw his arms up in disgust over the uncomfortable bounce, questioning the surface.

In the following game, the 30-year-old was left bitterly frustrated after de Minaur's serve clipped the service box line, causing the ball to rise dramatically, providing Thompson little chance to return serve.

Thompson turned to his support box and was heard shouting, "Look at the line, it's like a f**king hump!'

It isn't the first time Thompson has been outspoken on court, making headlines at the Australian Open earlier in January as he referred to the tournament as 'the wokest ever' after realising the new rule concerning spectators leaving their seats after each game.

There was another bizarre moment earlier in the match when Thompson's cap flew onto the ground mid-rally, with the chair umpire claiming she "did not see it" and opted to replay the point instead of handing Thompson a hindrance warning.

Flustered and confused after the incident, de Minaur explained his thoughts on the matter post-match.

“That’s happened to me so many times. I’m normally the one with my hat just falling off,” de Minaur said.

“The only thing that I felt (was) puzzling is that I wasn’t sure, and I actually in the moment didn’t ask the ref, but I was curious if I would have hit a winner on the next shot, if it still would have been a replay or not.

“Because I’ve had times where my hat has fallen off (and) I’ve stopped, but the opponent hasn’t, and the referee deems it as it’s only endangering me and not my opponent. Therefore, it’s not a replay of the point.

“It feels like the rule just changes depending on the ref if I’m honest. I wouldn’t be able to tell you the actual rule book, because I have had so many different situations where they have played it off different ways, but in my eyes, I feel like any time the hat falls off, it should be a replay point no matter what.”
