The red clay and Nick Kyrgios don't particularly go hand in hand, which is why the Australian's recent hint has sprung a surprise.

Ranked No.635 in the world after injuries plagued his career, the former Wimbledon finalist won his first singles match in two and a half years at the Miami Masters 1000 last month.

Since his loss to Karen Khachanov in the same tournament, Kyrgios has yet to feature during the clay season.

Two days after celebrating his 30th birthday, Kyrgios posted a video on his social accounts to thank everyone for their wishes and support. He also mentioned a potential appearance at Roland-Garros next month.

"Hey guys, couple days off to my birthday now, just getting into training and getting ready to head to Paris in about three weeks," Kyrgios said.

"I really appreciate the love and the support from all the fans, family, and friends that I'm yet to reply to. I really felt the love — the big 3-0. Thank you everyone."

Kyrgios' name has not been added on the French Open entry list, sparking suggestions that he is in line to receive a wildcard.

His best appearance at the clay-court major came in 2015 and 2016 when he reached the third-round.

It would mark Kyrgios' first appearance at Roland-Garros since 2017.
