The second Melbourne Padel Open was run over the weekend and clearly showed the growth in popularity padel continues to have in Australia.
Not only were spectator numbers up considerably but the standard and talent of players from all over the world put on a padel show Melbourne has never seen before.
Pat Rafter; 2 time US Open winner was always going to be one of the matches not to miss but when the draw had him and his partner Marious Zelba play 9-time tennis grand slam winner Jonas Bjorkman and partner Sam Ashenden in an elimination match on Saturday afternoon it was hard to pick which side the crowd was on.
Ultimately neither pair made it to the final and it was a battle of the Spaniards with Roberto Belmont Pastor and partner Victor Tur Checa proving too good on the day.

British Pair Catherine Rose and Aimee Gibson achieved back-to-back wins following their Sydney domination proving their love of an Aussie Court and Britains talent on the world stage in Woman Padel.
Sara Errani: Olympic gold medallist in Paris and 6-time Grand Slam winner proved her talent isn't just limited to tennis with an incredible few wins early in the tournament.
