Former world No.1 Venus Williams has discovered her first-round opponent at the Washington Open upon her comeback, but she has received "disrespectful" hate as a result.
A seven-time major singles champion and 14-time doubles Slam winner, Williams hasn't entered a WTA main draw event since last year's Miami Open in March.

However, the American accepted a wildcard to compete in both singles and doubles at the Washington Open, which is a WTA 500 event.
The 45-year-old was spotted hitting on the practice courts ahead of her first professional match in 16 months.
Williams' first assignment is against unseeded countrywoman Peyton Stearns.
Because of the five-time Wimbledon champions' age, the tennis world has reacted strongly towards the decision to hand Williams a wildcard.
"Just ridiculous and I don't agree with it. There [has to be] a rule about this," one person said on X.
"Absolute disgrace that the tournament would consider a wildcard for this. Zero leadership on either tour. Absolute embarrassment lately. Billionaire (Bill Ackman) buying ATP points and now this farce. Tennis needs a commissioner a decade ago. Venus should be ashamed. Disgraceful," said another fan.
"Please just retire," added another person.
Prominent tennis journalist José Morgado defended the tennis legend, urging fans to "do better" in the way they comment.
Partnering Williams in the doubles is 23-year-old American Hailey Baptiste as they take on Clervie Ngounoue and 2014 Wimbledon runner-up Eugenie Bouchard, who earlier this week announced her retirement.
