Day 10 of the 2022 US Open is certainly one that Storm Sanders will not forget, claiming two outstanding wins to advance to the semifinals of both the women's doubles and mixed doubles draws.
Sanders kicked off her day on Louis Armstrong Stadium and claimed an outstanding 6-3, 6-3 win with partner Caroline Dolehide over French Open Champions Kristina Mladenovic and Caroline Garcia.
The win sees Sanders advance to her maiden semifinal at the US Open and her second semifinal with Dolehide at a major, after the pair reached the Wimbledon semifinals last year.
Sanders returned to Louis Armstrong Stadium later in the day with fellow Australian John Peers. The Aussie duo battled past Leylah Fernandez and Jack Sock to claim a narrow 7-5, 7-6(1) victory, becoming the first all-Australian pair to advance to the semifinals of a doubles event at the US Open since Nicole Pratt and Paul Hanley reached the mixed doubles semifinals in 2006.
In the quarterfinals of the wheelchair quad singles, Australian Heath Davidson put together a terrific performance but was unfortunately ousted in a tight three-set battle, going down to Australian Open and Wimbledon Champion, No. 2 seed Sam Schroder 6-3, 6-7(3), 3-6.
In juniors action on day 10, Australian No. 8 seed Taylah Preston suffered a straight sets defeat to No. 10 seed Alex Eala 2-6, 6-7(1), ending Australia's junior singles hopes in New York.
Preston returned to the court later in the day and claimed a straight sets win in the opening round of junior girls doubles action with her partner Liv Hovde.
Australian Edward Winter bowed out in the opening round of junior boys doubles action.
