Panna Udvardy won her first WTA 125 title of her career, defeating Danka Kovinic 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the Argentina Open.
Udvardy will rise to No. 77 in the WTA rankings, one spot shy of her career-high ranking.
The opening set was evenly poised at 3-3 before Udvardy, the No. 3 seed, broke her Montenegrin opponent in the seventh game. Udvardy was able to hold serve and successfully close out the first set.
The second set was one-way traffic as the Hungarian won five straight games to claim the biggest win of her career.
"I think every match was different, completely different game styles," Udvardy said.
"The match that made me the proudest was today. I played my best tennis and didn’t feel the pressure at all. I felt the crowd behind me, so I just really enjoyed being out there."
In the doubles, Irina Bara and Sara Errani defeated Xiaodi You and Su-Jeong Jang 6-1, 7-5 to win their first title together.
The win was Bara’s fifth WTA 125 doubles title of her career. For Errani, a former world No. 1 in doubles and five-time Grand Slam champion in doubles, it was her first title at WTA 125 level.
