Joint didn’t just win the match, she trounced the fourth-seed 6-1 6-1 in exactly 60 minutes.
"I feel really good, I've played two really great matches so far and I want to keep going," she said.
"I like being the underdog and have been trying to keep the pressure off myself."
It’s been an incredible start of the year for Joint after a rapid rise from No.684 to No.116 in 2024.
Before the Australian summer, she had collected just one tour-level match win.
While in just over one week of 2025, she's already chalked up an additional three.
She reached the second-round in Brisbane last week before falling in three tight sets to Victoria Azarenka, now finding herself in the quarter-finals of Hobart — a career-best result.
"I really like that the season starts in Australia," she said.
"The home crowd support is really special."
The win puts her at No.110 on the live rankings which would be a career-high.
Another win would see her on the cusp of the top-100.
She next plays fellow wildcard entry and former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin for a spot in the semi-finals.
