ATTENTION TURNS TO BRISBANE WITH QUALITY FIELDS AND 'FREE ENTRY'

The sport that never sleeps heads to Brisbane this week where a host of Aussies will participate in the men's ATP Challenger and women's ITF pro tour events.

The Queensland Tennis Centre will play host to two back-to-back tournaments which will be headlined by Australian men and women seeking to earn crucial points and prize money before heading abroad.

Many familiar names will be in action with top-100 men Rinky Hijikata and Adam Walton in the draw, as well as top women's seed Madison Inglis, and Destanee Aiava, fresh off a career-best Australian Open run.

Having been just one of two men to take a set off Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, Tristan Schoolkate will also be in action, alongside Queenslanders Dane Sweeny and Blake Ellis.

Rising stars Talia Gibson and Taylah Preston will be on display for the Brisbane crowd, while 16-year-old Emerson Jones has headed straight from Melbourne Park to receive a wildcard into the main draw.

24-year-old Aussie Matthew Dellavedova will also be in the draw, fresh off a maiden Grand Slam qualifying appearance at Melbourne Park.

Ahead of Brisbane, Dellavedova will join Brett Phillips on Monday (January 27) night's edition of The First Serve, as the show returns for its 17th year to wrap up the Australian Open and summer of tennis.

After remarkable crowds have rolled into Melbourne park over the past fortnight, Brisbane is set to provide a brilliant opportunity for fans to see quality players without the chaos.

The same players which saw fans queuing halfway around the precinct to see last week will be available up close and at no cost.

"The Brisbane QTC Tennis International is a fantastic chance to experience world class tennis right here in Brisbane. With a dynamic mix of rising local stars and international tennis players, this event promises to be an unforgettable week of competition," Tournament Director Francis Soyer said.

“We encourage fans to head to the Queensland Tennis Centre over the next two weeks. With free entry, it’s the perfect opportunity to cheer on local and international talent.”
