Previous world No.1 Victoria Azarenka has crashed out of the prestigious Indian Wells 1000 event in straight sets.

A two-time winner at Melbourne Park, Azarenka was a step behind eighth-seed and last year's Australian Open finalist Qinwen Zheng, suffering a 4-6 4-6 defeat in the second-round.

But with the score evenly poised at 4-4 30-30 in the second set, things got heated when Azarenka watched a lob go over her head which narrowly caught the line, and as a result, called in by the automated technology.

Despite the system's consistent accuracy since its introduction to the WTA and ATP Tours, the 35-year-old angrily disagreed with the decision.

"This is bulls**t. What is video review for? It’s a clear mark," argued a convinced Azarenka to the chair umpire.

When told by the umpire that reversing the call wasn't an option, Azarenka vented: "It’s just a sh*tty f****** system," before unsurprisingly being handed a code violation for profane language.

Fans were quick to point out their lack of understanding about Azarenka's rant, with one person commenting on X: "I don't understand what's the point for review if you knew the review would produce the same answer?"

Another account wrote: "It's electronic call why did she call it?"

The world No.32 is expected to travel to Miami for the next WTA 1000 tournament later this month.
