The clock is ticking for Nick Kyrgios ahead of the US Open later this month, with the Aussie choosing to skip yet another tournament — this time, Cincinnati.

Kyrgios, 30, last appeared in an ATP singles match at the Miami Open in March, where he scored his first win since 2022.

A former finalist at Cincinnati's Masters 1000 event in 2017, Kyrgios was due to enter next week's tournament by activating his protected ranking.

However, the former world No.13 has opted to prioritise his body once again.

At the beginning of June, he announced that he would miss Wimbledon, citing a "small setback" related to a recurring knee complaint that had halted his recovery process.

Three-time champion Novak Djokovic will join Kyrgios on the sidelines, confirming the Serbian star will enter the US Open having not played since his Wimbledon semi-final loss to Jannik Sinner.

Other absentees from the Masters event include Jack Draper and Grigor Dimitrov.
