Ons Jabeur can't contain her emotions after withdrawing from her first-round match.

A tearful Ons Jabeur couldn't believe her cruel luck on Court 14 after being forced to withdraw from her first-round Wimbledon match in unexpected circumstances.

The Tunisian international required a lengthy medical timeout just 26 minutes into the opening set, as she struggled to cope with the sweltering heatwave.

Trailing 5-7, 0-2 against world No.111 Viktoriya Tomova, Jabeur made the painful decision to retire after having her blood pressure checked.

Jabeur, 30, hunched over in her chair with a towel placed over her head as the tears flowed.

"I didn't expect to not feel well. I've been practicing quite well in the last few days, but I guess these things happen," she said post-match.

"I'm very sad. It doesn't help much with my confidence and what I keep striving to do, even though it has been a very tough season for me."

A two-time Wimbledon finalist, the former world No.2 has previously described her loss in the 2023 final as the "most difficult defeat" in her career.

"If I had won this (final), I was going to try and have a baby right away. And that dream faded. I was haunted by fear. After all, I'm only human, what more can I do?" she said

"It was the hardest loss of my career because emotionally it destroyed me. Not only winning Wimbledon, but the idea of having a baby disappeared when I lost. So, I think that's what killed us, Karim (her husband) and I, we were crying like babies."
