EBDEN ACKNOWLEDGES DOUBLES PARTNER FOR 'AMAZING RIDE' AMID SPLIT

Australia's Matthew Ebden has paid homage to doubles partner Rohan Bopanna for an "amazing ride" after deciding to part ways.

Although they were mathematically eliminated from the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, the experienced duo bowed out on a high to defeat German pair Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz 7-5 6-7(6) 10-7.

"Obviously, we were already out but to at least get one final win together. It was a great way to finish the partnership and it's been an amazing two years," Ebden said post-match.

"To finish on a win and at least get one win here at the ATP Finals, I think was fitting or deserving maybe. It was really nice to share one more big moment.

"I thank him (Bopanna) for his amazing effort, commitment and dedication at 44 years old. It's been a great effort. I wish him all the best for the future."

Ebden, 36, and Bopanna, 44, have endured a successful two-year partnership, including a 65-36 win-loss record, two Masters 1000 titles and a Grand Slam trophy.

The highlight was their memorable triumph at the Australian Open earlier this year, dropping two sets all tournament to reign victorious. At 43, Bopanna became the oldest player to win a men's doubles Grand Slam title in the Open Era.

A touching tribute on Instagram from Ebden summarised their incredible journey on the ATP Tour.

"Thank you Rohan Bopanna for an amazing two years of partnership together. Thank you for all your time, effort and dedication to everything we have worked towards and achieved together, it's been one heck of a ride. All the best for everything in the future," wrote Ebden.

"Special thanks to Scott Davidoff (Bopanna's coach) and Rebecca Van Orshaegen (Bopanna's physio) for all your tireless effort and support these last two years. It's been so fun and an amazing ride. All the best for everything moving forward.

"Special mention to our amazing wives Kim and Supriya for following us tirelessly around the world (with children) and supporting us through everything, thank you and forever grateful."
