Hubert Hurkacz is ready to endure a stint on the sidelines following confirmation of undergoing successful surgery.

The former world No.6 has played below par this season, having made just one ATP final at the Geneva Open in May, with a contributing factor being his injury struggles.

Hurkacz withdrew from his second-round match at the Libéma Open for the commencement of the grass court season, before removing himself from Halle and Wimbledon.

"Together with my team, I've made the decision to withdraw from this year's Wimbledon," Hurkacz said in a statement last week.

"During preparations, my body reacted – synovial membrane irritation – which is part of the recovery process from my surgery. It needs rest and treatment, and I need to listen to my body."

Since then, recent knee problems prompted the 28-year-old to take to social media and share an important update.

"Over the past few weeks, I've been dealing with knee issues, such as pain, fluid build-up, and other problems that made it hard to train and compete," he wrote. "After exploring different options, we decided that having an arthroscopy this Monday was the best solution.

"During the procedure, the overgrown synovial membrane causing the inflammation, pain, and related issues was removed.

"I'm now starting my recovery and will only come back when I'm 110% ready to compete again."

He underwent meniscus surgery after retiring from his second-round match at Wimbledon last year, and has also suffered from back problems in 2025.
