Julia Grabher defeated qualifier, Nuria Brancaccio 6-4, 6-2 to win the biggest title of her career at the WTA 125K tournament in Bari, Italy.
Since her disappointing early exit from the US Open qualifying, Grabher has made finals in consecutive weeks.
In the biggest final of her career, Brancaccio, the Italian qualifier who was outside the world’s top 400 will now rise to a career-high ranking of the 300.
Grabher got off the perfect start, breaking in the first game of the match. However, Brancaccio managed to level the set at 2-2. A further break of serve proved the difference in the set as Grabher closed the set out 6-4.
The second set proved more straightforward for Grabher as she breezed through the set to claim the title.
The Austrian’s productive fortnight will see her rise to a career-high ranking of No. 97 in the WTA live rankings.
