HEAD'S LIMITED RACQUET AND BAG EDITION IN HONOUR OF ARTHUR ASHE

Arthur Ashe was more than a tennis champion—he was a pioneer who helped shape the modern game both on and off the court.

Born in 1943 in Richmond, Virginia, he made history as the first Black man to win a Grand Slam, securing titles at the US Open (1968), Australian Open (1970), and Wimbledon (1975). Known for his calm, intelligent style, he outthought rather than overpowered his opponents.

But Ashe’s legacy extended beyond trophies. In the 1970s, he partnered with HEAD to revolutionise tennis equipment, helping to develop aluminium and composite racquets that offered more power, precision, and durability than traditional wooden frames. His success with the HEAD Competition racquet proved that high-tech gear could perform at the highest levels.

To mark the 50th anniversary of his biggest grass title, HEAD is launching the Legacy Edition Arthur Ashe Competition 2025 racquet —honouring a quiet hero who changed the game forever.

Inspired by the original model Ashe used, it blends retro aesthetics with today’s performance, built on the highly successful HEAD BOOM MP frame for a dynamic, hugely playable update. Iconic details, such as the original Wishbone logo and the "Competition" name, honour its heritage. The collection also includes a retro-style Arthur Ashe Racquet Bag, featuring the quote, "You Can't Win Without Serving," and a vintage-inspired racquet cover, included with every racquet.

Designed to honour Ashe’s legacy, this limited-edition release combines timeless style with cutting-edge innovation. The moment you pick up this racquet, the Competition is now in your hands.
