259 days since last stepping out on court, former world No.1 Karolína Plíškova has resorted to a last-ditch attempt to save her career with the help of another surgery.

The two-time major finalist withdrew after just three points against Jasmine Paolini at last year's US Open first-round stage in late August and hasn't played since due to an ongoing left ankle injury.

"Here we go again," the 33-year-old Czech wrote on Instagram.

"Due to consistent pain, I had to undergo another small surgery on my ankle. Everything went well, and I'm already feeling better. Hopefully back on court soon.

"Thank you all for your support and messages — it means a lot."

She underwent a similar procedure in September after her US Open exit, but remains hopeful about a comeback.

Plíškova could potentially activate her protected ranking for the grass court season heading into Wimbledon, where she reached the final in 2021.
