Reilly Opelka can't seem to remove himself from the tennis spotlight after taking a dig at the ATP for his accommodation stay in Madrid.

The American is scheduled to face Aussie Lucky Loser Rinky Hijikata on Friday morning, not before 2:10am AEST in the Madrid Masters 1000 first-round.

Instead of soaking in the Spanish capital, Opelka preferred to complain about his hotel stay in classic Opelka fashion.

"Madrid sunset views are the best," he wrote sarcastically on his Instagram story.

Fans on social media viewed the 27-year-old's behaviour as entitled, with one person commenting: "Why are they acting like they're being held hostage? Just leave and get your own fancy hotel."

"Top 100 players: 'My 5-star hotel in Madrid doesn't have a sea view'. Below top-100 players: 'I couldn't feed my family this week,'" another fan wrote.

It comes as Opelka recently dropped explosive allegations regarding the Professional Tennis Players Association's (PTPA's) lawsuit against the ATP and other major tennis organisations for mistreatment and double standards.

Opelka, one of 12 players who signed a document agreeing to file the lawsuit, claimed in a court hearing two weeks ago that he had been approached by an unnamed player at the Miami Open earlier this year by ATP Tour Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi, warning about significant consequences if he continued to back the PTPA.
