'I give a little less s**t about it': Iga Świątek takes swipe at 'experts' after Toronto title

New Toronto champion Iga Świątek made sure to put a few people in their place following consistent criticism.
The 25-year-old dropped only five games in Canada's WTA 1000 final against Elena Rybakina, winning 6-2, 6-3 in a dominant display.
"The journey has been bumpy this season," admitted Świątek. "To be here and to hold the trophy… means a lot, and I'm just proud of myself and super-happy."

It hasn't been all smooth sailing for Świątek, who hadn't won a WTA title since the Korea Open in late September last year. In mid-July, she fell to world No.8.
Back home, however, the six-time Grand Slam winner feels she has been unfairly treated by Polish "experts".
"Honestly, with all the people judging and hating; not international fans, but more at home. I mean, not the fans but the 'experts'," said Świątek.
"I feel a little bit angry right now... I think that's the first time I felt like that after a victory, but you know, it hasn't been easy... I'm happy that year by year I give a little less s**t about it. And I could win this tournament to prove to everyone that they just don’t make sense sometimes."
She rises to fifth in the live WTA rankings and is four tournaments shy (Australian Open, Wuhan, Dubai, Olympics) of 'completing tennis'.
Meanwhile, a win for Rybakina would've seen her close the gap in the rankings with world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka by just four points.
"Today was a pity," the world No. 2 told reporters afterwards. "I didn't have much energy. I was just very tired.
"You could see that I wasn't pushing with the legs enough. There were a lot of unforced errors."
