An International Tennis Federation (ITF) press release has crunched the numbers for the 2024 circuit, confirming an increase in tournaments and prize money compared to last year.
According to the report, 10,979 players partook in 1,200 tournaments, seeing a spike of 65 events from 2023 to demonstrate more playing opportunities.
Of those tournaments, 598 were men's and 602 were women's (up from 571 men's events and 564 women's events last year), hosted in 72 different countries.
Women's events saw a record prize money pool paid out equalling $17.9 million, with a record $11.3 million distributed to the men.
A total of 201 events were staged across the ITF World Tennis Tour W50-W75-W100 and WTA 125 categories in 2024 — nine short of the 210 tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour.
A spike was also present in the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, with 18,505 players competing in 980 events (up from 922 last year).
130 nations hosted ITF Junior events in 2024, including Liechtenstein who held a tournament for the first time.
For the third consecutive year, there were seven J500 tournaments held to align with the ITF's vision to offer more ranking points and bridge the gap between Grand Slams and lower-level events.
16-year-old Emerson Jones became the first Australian female since Jelena Dokic to claim the No.1 Junior ranking, and she also made history by becoming the first winner of the ITF Girls' World Junior Finals from Australia.
