Nick Kyrgios and Paula Badosa Confirmed for 2027 Kooyong Classic

Following a hugely successful 2026 tournament, the Kooyong Classic has continued its momentum into 2027, today announcing Australian star Nick Kyrgios and former World No. 2 Paula Badosa as the first players to join the 2027 tournament.

Returning to the spiritual home of Australian tennis from 12–14 January 2027, former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios is one of the world’s biggest drawcards, renowned for his shot-making, creativity and ability to entertain crowds whenever he plays.

Joining him is Spanish star Paula Badosa, whose return to form has seen the former World No. 2 once again establish herself among the WTA Tour’s leading players.

Badosa has enjoyed another impressive season, highlighted by runner-up finishes at both the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden, and the Iași Open in Romania, a quarterfinal appearance at the Berlin Open.

After overcoming a series of injury setbacks, the former World No. 2 and Indian Wells Champion is once again producing the form that carried her to the semifinals of the 2025 Australian Open.

Kooyong Classic Tournament Director Peter Johnston said the early player announcements reflected the tournament’s continued ability to attract world-class talent.

“Nick is a 'must have’ for any event in Australia. He is a global star and one of the most exciting players our sport has produced and always creates an incredible atmosphere whenever he steps onto court. We loved having him at Kooyong last year, and we’re delighted to welcome him back in 2027.”

“We’re equally thrilled to welcome Paula, whose return to the top level of women’s tennis has been fantastic to watch. She brings tremendous quality to our field, and alongside Nick, adds even more star power to what is shaping up to be another outstanding Kooyong Classic and Australian Summer of Tennis.”

The tournament recently received a further vote of confidence, with SBS returning as the official Australian broadcast partner for the 2027 and 2028 Kooyong Classic tournaments, ensuring fans across Australia will once again be able to enjoy every match live and free on SBS and SBS On Demand.

With further player announcements to come, the 2027 Kooyong Classic is once again shaping as one of the marquee events of the Australian Summer of Tennis, offering fans a rare opportunity to experience many of the world’s biggest names in an intimate setting.
