KOOYONG CLASSIC EXHIBITION RETURNS TO THE AUSTRALIAN CALENDAR IN JANUARY 2026

The Kooyong Classic, one of the most prestigious tennis exhibitions in the world, is set to make its much-anticipated return to the Australian tennis calendar in January 2026.

After being postponed for a year, the iconic event is back under new ownership, with the full support of the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, ensuring its status as an important component of the Australian tennis season.

Long-time tournament director Peter Johnston expressed his excitement about the event’s return. “The Kooyong Classic holds a special place in the tennis calendar, and we are thrilled to bring it back, even stronger, for players and fans alike,” he said.

Renowned as a premier preparatory event for the Australian Open, the Kooyong Classic boasts the same courts, balls, and conditions as the Grand Slam, making it an essential stop for players. The 2024 edition featured a stellar lineup, including world number one Jannik Sinner, alongside stars like Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Sir Andy Murray, Mirra Andreeva, and Danielle Collins.

The appetite from players remains as strong as ever, as the tournament offers an unmatched opportunity to fine-tune their game in the familiar surroundings of Australia’s premier tennis club, widely regarded as the spiritual home of tennis in the country and the birthplace of the Australian Open.

Beloved by fans for its intimate atmosphere and world-class talent, the Kooyong Classic is poised for an exciting new chapter. With fresh ownership and a commitment to excellence, the 2026 edition promises to deliver thrilling tennis action and set the stage for the Australian Open. Tennis enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing the magic of Kooyong once again.
