Former world No.13 Nick Kyrgios "was looking around and taking everything in" during what he believes was likely his final Wimbledon appearance.

The 31-year-old has dealt with a horrid injury run since he made the 2022 U.S. Open quarters, but featured in the men's doubles at Wimbledon overnight, partnering Alexander Bublik.

Kyrgios and Bublik lost in the first round to sixth seeds Mate Pavić and Marcelo Arévalo 3-6, 4-6.

"I would probably say (this was) pretty confidently my last Wimbledon," Kyrgios said post-match.

"I was looking around and taking everything in. It would be hard to see myself coming back here again and competing."

"It was an enjoyable doubles match. Going out with someone like Bublik, who keeps it pretty light-hearted, it's a lot of fun. But at the same time, a lot of things were running through my head in the last couple of games, that's for sure."

Listen to The First Serve Live every Monday at 8pm AEST in its 18th year on the SEN Network/App, Australia's only dedicated weekly tennis program on commercial radio running through till the end of November.

It was Wimbledon where Kyrgios announced himself to the tennis world when he beat the then world No.1 Rafael Nadal in the fourth round.

Aged 19 at the time, the Aussie became the lowest-ranked player (No.144) to defeat a world No.1 at a major since 1992.

In 2022, he reached his first and only Grand Slam final at the All England Club, as he fell short to Novak Djokovic in four sets.

"This has always been a venue and a place where I've played my best tennis," he said.

"My career kicked off here, and my life changed forever after that.

"It was tough to have my last service game. I told (Bublik) at a change of ends, 'Look, this is probably my last service game ever at Wimbledon'.

"It was a lot of emotions, for sure."
