No stranger to heartbreaking injuries, Queenslander Jason Kubler has avoided another catastrophe after a knee issue forced him to suffer defeat during a Challenger semi-final.
The 31-year-old was leading Aussie compatriot Adam Walton 6-7(6) 7-6(3) 5-0 in Busan, South Korea, but he conceded the next seven games to succumb to defeat.

A torrid injury history has followed Kubler throughout his career, having undergone seven knee surgeries, dating back to when he was 14.
However, Kubler confirmed to The First Serve that the problem is "nothing serious".
"Unfortunate match today, but luckily didn't do anything too bad to my knee. My knee normally gets inflamed in long matches, so I was double-checking that I hadn't done anything new to it," he said.
"But basically my legs were cramping all set from probably 4-0 [up in the third set].
"Unfortunate timing, but it is what it is. But happily, nothing serious with my knees."
The former junior world No.1 has risen 65 places in the live ATP rankings, sitting seven spots outside the top-300.
Kubler is next scheduled to enter the Gwangju Challenger, which is also hosted in South Korea.
