Queensland reveals team for Tennis Victoria Premier League as State v State showdown heats up
Updated: 2 minutes ago

Queensland has announced its team for the revamped Tennis Victoria Premier League, with former Australian No.1 John Millman set to lead a high-quality line-up in the new State v State competition this December.
Millman will captain the Queensland team featuring Dane Sweeny, Emerson Jones, Olivia Gadecki and Jason Kubler – the team bringing a mix of exciting Australian talent and established Grand Slam experience to the three-day competition.
The new-look Premier League will have Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia go head-to-head from 11–13 December, with a $100,000 prize pool on the line.
As players compete alongside teammates rather than individually, the revamped Premier League format adds a new dimension of intensity and rivalry to the tennis court.
Millman will lead the Queensland team, bringing extensive experience on the international stage.
“Premier League is shaping up to be an exciting addition to start the Australian summer. Queensland is putting together an exceptional team, and I'm thrilled to captain the Maroons.”
Dane Sweeny will add firepower to the Queensland line-up, currently ranked world No.112. Sweeny reached the third round of the 2026 US Open and the second round of the Australian Open this year, and won the ATP Challenger in Brisbane in February.
“The Premier League is an exciting concept, and I love the state versus state mentality. We’ve got a great line-up, so am sure Team Queensland will be a formidable opponent come December.”

Emerson Jones, who has transitioned from a promising young player to an established international professional, said, “I’m really looking forward to representing Queensland in the Premier League and teaming up with John, Dane, Olivia and Jason for what should be a really fun weekend.”
Australian star Olivia Gadecki will bring further Grand Slam experience to the Queensland team, having successfully defended her Australian Open mixed doubles title alongside John Peers in 2026.
Jason Kubler will add significant doubles experience, currently ranked world No.66 and having reached the 2026 Australian Open men’s doubles final alongside Marc Polmans. Kubler is also a Grand Slam champion, having won the 2023 Australian Open men’s doubles title with Rinky Hijikata.
Tennis Victoria CEO Kim Kachel said the Queensland line-up demonstrated the amazing depth and exceptional quality of the revamped Premier League competition.
“We wanted to create something bigger, bolder and more compelling for players and fans, and seeing the Queensland team come together is an excellent example of that ambition,” he said.
“Millman, Sweeny, Jones, Kubler and Gadecki bring an incredible mix of experience, emerging talent and Grand Slam pedigree, and we know Queensland will be coming to Melbourne ready to compete.”
