Reputable Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that world No.1 Jannik Sinner is preparing for a fitness test in the coming days to determine whether he will enter the upcoming US Open.
Sinner, who turned 25 this week, withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters due to a knee injury.
"My right knee has been bothering me, and even though we have been working hard with my medical team, I have to accept that I'm not ready to compete yet," he said before Cincinnati.

Around one week before Cincinnati commenced, the Italian star underwent medical tests in Milan and Turin, with reports stating that he stayed at the Milan clinic for up to four hours.
He recently took to the practice courts in Turin, spotted at Circolo della Stampa Sporting, a familiar tennis venue that also serves as a training base during the ATP Finals.
Sinner also visited Turin's J Medical for further examinations on his knee.
In Sinner's mind, he does not want to take unnecessary risks and will only compete if fully fit and healthy.

It is expected that he will announce a decision in the next few days, given that he will be required to fly to New York to prepare for the final Grand Slam of the year.
If Sinner does enter the US Open, then he will do so having played no lead-up events during the North American swing, just as he played no grass-court events before this year's Wimbledon, where he successfully defended his title.
World No.2 and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz's US Open campaign is also up in the air, as the seven-time major winner also withdrew from Cincinnati and hasn't featured in a competitive match since the Barcelona Open in April after sustaining a wrist injury.
