Former world No.10 Pablo Carreño Busta completed the stunning comeback, but it was Pedro Martínez who caused the upset of the tie by taking down former world No.4 Holger Rune in three sets.
"The feeling was incredible. I've been fighting all my life to be here today," Martínez said. "I did everything I could and left all my heart on the court."
For the first time in their history, Spain came back from 0-2 down to prevail in a Davis Cup tie.
