Novak Djokovic strolled into the Roland-Garros fourth-round with a comfortable 6-3 6-4 6-2 victory over world No.153 Filip Misolic, but a packed out Court Philippe-Chatrier had one eye elsewhere.

French football powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were in action against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final in Munich, as the Parisians sealed a resounding 5-0 win to secure their first-ever European title.

A massive party then eventuated on the streets of Paris, led by flares and fireworks, with PSG's home stadium (which is just a few blocks away from the Roland-Garros site) hosting a live watch along in the stands.

During Djokovic's match, the 24-time Grand Slam winner could sense the crowd cheering louder than normal, but didn't expect to learn about the emphatic scoreline.

"It was interesting. The crowd was really following the game. I could hear when they scored. It was way too many times that they were celebrating," Djokovic said when referring to the crowd on Centre Court.

"I was like, 'wow, this is a lot of goals from Paris! What's going on?' Now I heard it's 5-0. Quite a result, to be honest."

Although it was the Serbian star's first night session match at this year's French Open, Djokovic's experience ultimately prevailed.

"Night sessions are always different. They're always louder. The people are always more excited. Everything is always loud and different from a day session," he said.

"I knew I was going to have to be scheduled once to play at night. And it's okay. It's fine. I mean, I would be watching football, for sure.

"It's going to be quite a journey [back to the hotel]. Quite an adventure. But I think we are in for a long celebration and probably not much sleep tonight. It's a fun night to be in Paris, I guess."

A similar incident occurred on Centre Court at last year's Wimbledon between Djokovic and Australia's Alexei Popyrin when the crowd suddenly erupted in celebration after England defeated Switzerland in a penalty shoot-out, qualifying for the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
